Love is a crazy thing. It’s a choice you make every day when you look into your S.O.’s eyes. You chose to love them yesterday and the days before that, and you choose to love them today, and all of the tomorrows. It’s important to remember that when miles come between you.
Distance doesn’t make a relationship fall apart, not choosing that person every day does.
As the saying goes, “distance makes the heart grow fonder,” and it couldn’t be truer. When you love someone from a distance, your heart goes from wanting them to craving them.
Your appreciation for them only grows when you’re away, or at least it should. They aren’t around to drive you crazy with all their annoying antics, so you realize you love them for all the things that make you nuts.
Distance allows you to fall for them all over again, and you aren’t even with them.
If something comes up and you find yourself facing a long-distance relationship, you might think you can’t do it, but try it. If you truly love the person, distance means nothing, and your love for them will be the thing that keeps you going.
And you’ll get to learn something about you and your relationship either way. If the distance makes you stronger, your bond with that person is sturdier and was meant to last. If space causes problems, the relationship wasn’t all that strong, to begin with.
Distance isn’t forever but that person you love might be.
So never give up on them just because distance scares you, it might end up being the best thing that has ever happened to you and your relationship.
True love is hard to find, so don’t let a plane flight, a long drive, or a couple months stop you from living your happily ever after. Because you never know if giving up on them might just be the end of the best thing you’ve ever had.
You deserve to be happy, but don’t let those life curve balls dictate that happiness. Life is complicated but love doesn’t have to be. It doesn’t have to be the end of your relationship because your love should be so much more than just having to be with someone in person. So to those of you in LDR’s remember you’re love for them because giving up on that isn’t worth it. Especially, when someone means so much.
